The Department for Education and Skills

The Department of Education and Skills initially refused to release details of schools with facilities for visually impaired children. It later released a list of special schools for the visually impaired but admitted that it did not collect information on VI facilities in mainstream schools. 

A request under the Freedom of Information Act to the Department of Education and Skills for a list of mainstream primary and secondary schools in England with facilities for the visually impaired drew the following response:

Independent schools that cater for Visual Impairment EXCLUDING Special
Schools.

Etchells Primary School
Heald Green
Cheadle
Cheshire
SK8 3DL

This is a Community Primary School with and age range of 5 - 11

St James School
22 Bargate
Grimsby
DN34 4SY

This is an Independent School with an age range of 3 - 16

There are only these two schools that cater for Visual Impairment out
side the Special School genre.
